RECYCLE
- Go Alternative
- Use alternative sources of energy. The sun is the best renewable source for energy. Between solar panels, ethanol, and biodiesel, you can increasingly use the sun to power your mobility and life. This will substantially reduce your carbon footprint.
- Use plant based fuels to reduce your carbon footprint.
- Check out one of these carbon footprint calculator links to determine your carbon footprint:
REDUCE
- Drive a green car to reduce your carbon footprint (link to a carbon footprint calculator here)
- Use less fuel in your car by maintaining your vehicle motor and proper tire pressure
- Use Fewer Fossil Fuels
- Drive less (or use renewable fuels for your car)
- Fly less
- Use your body to power your mobility: Bike, walk, run, swim, or cross country ski to work and school
- Downsize! The smaller and less energy your house is, the lower your carbon and ecological footprint
- Use CFLs (Compact Florescent Light bulbs)
- Eat locally produced food
- Avoid eating food shipped (with fossil fuels) long distances.
REUSE
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- Buy the highest quality product possible. Those products that can be repaired and maintained often carry a lesser environmental impact than those products that must be thrown away.
